Check your bathroom: CVS Health recalls 75,000 hemorrhoidal wipes

Check your bathroom cabinet, as CVS Health has recalled thousands of medicated hemorrhoidal wipes due to a lack of child-resistant packaging.

The Rhode Island-based retailer issued a recall for more than 75,000 boxes of medicated hemorrhoidal wipes on July 2 because they do not feature child-resistant packaging, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Per the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, the wipes must contain this packaging because they contain lidocaine, which can pose a serious injury or even death to a child if ingested.

As of July 2, CVS was not aware of an injuries related to the recall.

Here's what to know about the recall of medicated wipes.

What CVS wipes are recalled?

The recall affects CVS Health's Rapid Pain Relief Medicated Hemorrhoidal Wipes.

The pain-relieving wipes were sold in boxes of 20 individually-wrapped packets of flushable wipes, according to the CPSC. Each wipe was 6 inches by 4 inches in size. The CVS Health logo and a yellow heart were printed on the front of the box.

When and where were the recalled CVS wipes sold?

The recalled wipes were sold at CVS and CVS Pharmacy stores nationwide and online between April 2020 and April 2026 for $16, according to the CPSC.

What to do if you own recalled CVS wipes

Keep the medicated wipes out of the sight and reach of children and contact CVS for a full refund, according to the CPSC. Consumers will be asked to return unopened packets of wipes with the packaging.

Consumers with questions may contact CVS customercare@cvs.com or by calling 800-746-7287 between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. ET Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday. More information is also available at cvs.com/retail/help/recalls.
