Rock Hill adds extra Food Truck Friday to schedule

Food Truck Friday at Fountain Park will continue through Oct. 16, city officials announced Tuesday.

The 6 to 9 p.m. event, which started in May, was scheduled to end on Sept. 18.

The city is extending it for a month because of its success, said Cathy Murphy, the city’s downtown manager.

City officials have more than doubled food trucks since the event began in May. Organizers were caught off guard with such an overwhelming turnout, but with the addition of more trucks the event has taken off and attracted thousands to downtown Rock Hill.

Murphy said the event now has a waiting list of trucks wanting to participate. She said the event has seen strong attendance from the “college crowd.”

The weekend of the final Food Truck Friday will be busy for downtown. Rock Hill will host Oktoberfest in Old Town a day later, on Oct. 17.
