One lucky family of four and seven other couples will celebrate New Year’s Day in Pasadena, Calif., with an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2016 Rose Parade and Rose Bowl college football game through a Facebook contest by Giti Tire.
To enter, visit Giti Tire USA’s Facebook page and look for #GitiParade. Contestants will be prompted to upload a photo demonstrating their Rose Parade spirit with the hashtag #GitiROSEPARADE.
The contest instructs contestants to share their entry on their Facebook profiles to encourage friends and family members to vote for their photo. The 12 entries with the most votes will be entered into a drawing for the grand prize: an all-inclusive trip for four to the Rose Parade, the Rose Bowl game and a VIP tailgate party. Seven other winners will be selected for an all-inclusive trip for two people.
The contest started Nov. 1 and ends Nov. 30. Winners will be announced Dec. 1.
With Giti Tire building a plant in the Richburg area of Chester County, Jim Fuller, president of the Chester Chamber of Commerce, said it would be “fantastic” to have a local winner. He’s encouraging all regional residents to enter the contest and “vote for their hometown friends.”
“With Giti Tire being a family-owned global company and the Rose Parade enjoyed by people around the world, we thought it would be great to provide some families the opportunity to win a trip of a lifetime to enjoy all the festivities on New Year’s Day,” said Joe Anzelmo, Giti’s senior manager, marketing, advertising and promotions.
Giti is the official tire sponsor of the 127th Rose Bowl Parade and sponsor of the Decorating Places, where the parade floats get their final work as a variety of seeds, bark, fruits and vegetables, grasses, and flowers are applied.
Giti launched its new branding campaign because the tires it sells in the United States carry other brand names such as GT Radial, Primewell, Dextero and Runway.
“We have many loyal customers that sell our brands in the U.S., but the company itself is not well known with the general public,” said Armand Allaire, executive vice president of sales and marketing.
The all-inclusive trip for four includes round-trip airfare vouchers for up to $1,000 per person; two nights hotel stay; a $500 Visa gift card; and tickets to the parade, football game and VIP tailgate party. The total package is valued at $6,500, according to the company.
The seven runner-up prizes include round trip airfare vouchers up to $1,000 per person; two nights hotel stay; and tickets to the parade, the football game and the VIP tailgate party. The total package is valued at $3,000 each.
“The Rose Parade sponsorship and this accompanying Facebook contest are first steps in building awareness for Giti as a global tire company with excellent product quality and customer service, along with a strong commitment to the communities we serve,” Anzelmo said.
Construction of Giti’s $560 million, 1.6-million-square-foot plant in Richburg is underway and is expected to take about a year. Giti officials are hopeful production of passenger and light-truck tires can start in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Currently, Giti employs about 20 people for the project. That number is expected to increase to 200 over the next year, Giti officials have said. Over the next 10 years, Giti anticipates hiring up to 1,700 workers at the plant.
