Nation Ford Chemical honored for environmental efforts
Nation Ford Chemical of Fort Mill has been recognized by the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates for reducing waste from the plant.
Nation Ford Chemical participates in the society’s ChemStewards program, which encourages companies to operate their facilities in a way that guarantees safety and environmental compliance.
This is the seventh performance improvement award Nation Ford Chemical has received in the last six years.
“This award reflects our commitment to constant improvement for our products, our workers and our neighbors in the community,” said Nation Ford Chemical president Jay Dickson.

▪ Springs Memorial Hospital of Lancaster was recently named a top performance on key quality measures by the Joint Commission.
This is the fifth year Springs Memorial has been recognized as a top performer. Only 117 hospitals in the nation have received this distinction for all five years.
“The fact that Springs Memorial is one of those 117 is a testament to the care provided by our medical staff and employees,” said Janice Dabney, Springs Memorial’s chief executive officer. “We are excelling at providing treatment for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care and immunizations,” she said.
▪ Habitat for Humanity of York County is partnering with The Springs Close Foundation to continue its work in the Paradise neighborhood of Fort Mill. Twenty-eight 28 families will be served this year.
“The extensive work we have under-taken this year would not be possible without the support of more than 1,000 volunteers who contributed some 7,000 hours,” said Habitat executive director Tim Veeck. Volunteers will address electrical, plumbing and structural issues. The work completed to date includes installation of ADA certified bathrooms, roof and window replacements, installation of handicap ramp and painting.
