ROCK HILL

Hickory Tavern opened its Rock Hill location on Celanese Road Wednesday afternoon.

The restaurant held a series of private dinners on Monday to prepare the staff for the opening.

Rock Hill is the fifth Hickory Tavern location the Charlotte-based operation has opened this year. A Hickory Tavern recently opened in Memphis, Tenn. Other new restaurants this year are in Indian Land, Winston-Salem, N.C., and Birmingham, Ala. In all, Hickory Tavern has 22 locations.

Hickory Tavern bills itself as a “great neighborhood restaurant/bar with a sports passion,” spokesman Thom Perez said. To meet the demands of sports fans “there are lots of televisions,” he said.
