Red Ventures has joined with the Charlotte Knights to sponsor five college baseball games at the BB&T ballpark in downtown Charlotte.

The sponsorship agreement has been in the works for some time, according to Red Ventures officials.

Red Ventures wanted to “create a customized partnership that showcases their incredible facilities and Red Ventures’ fun, creative culture. When we evaluate potential partnerships, we look for partners, like the Knights, who will work with us to bring our brand to life in a unique way,” said company spokeswoman Katie Zach.

Winthrop University is playing in one of the five games, facing the the UNC-Charlotte 49ers on April 5 at 6:05 p.m.

“The 2016 Red Ventures Collegiate Baseball Series was especially interesting to us as we have deep partnerships with the majority of the participating schools, spend time on their campuses throughout the year, and have a large alumni base from representing schools at Red Ventures,” Zach said.

Red Ventures is located in Indian Land. It just started another campus expansion, constructing a fourth building that will result in hundreds more jobs for the Internet marketing firm. Founded in 2000 Red Ventures employs more than 3,000 and has been named one of the “Best Places to Work” in Charlotte for eight consecutive years.

“Red Ventures is experiencing rapid growth, so attracting and retaining the best talent continues to be a top priority for us. Our goal with this partnership is twofold; help people learn more about who we are and what we do, and create an opportunity for employees to enjoy some great college baseball matchups,” Zach said.

Tickets for the college games go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday at the ballpark.

The sales coincides with the Knights “Appreciate A Dragon Day.” From 10 a.m. to noon, any fan who purchases a ticket in person at BB&T Ballpark, or wears their college colors, will receive a free Knights collectible giveaway, along with complimentary popcorn, peanuts, and a soda.

The 2016 Red Ventures Collegiate Baseball Series begins March 8 with Charlotte 49ers hosting the University of Georgia at BB&T Ballpark. Other games are the Charlotte 49ers vs. N.C. State on March 29, the University of North Carolina vs. the University of South Carolina on April 12 and Appalachian State vs. Wake Forest on April 26.
