Krispy Kreme chairman to speak at Winthrop
The chairman of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is coming to Winthrop University.
James H. Morgan will give the spring M.B.A. lecture at 7 p.m. Feb. 23. The event is at the Whitton Auditorium in Vivian M. Carroll Hall. It is free and open to the regional business community.
Morgan became Krispy Kreme’s executive chairman in July 2014 and was president and CEO from January 2008 until July 2014. Morgan has been a member of the Krispy Kreme Board of Directors since 2000 and was elected its chairman in 2005.
Morgan previously served as chairman and CEO of Wachovia Securities. He is a past member of the Securities Industry Association Board of Directors and the New York Stock Exchange regional firms committee, and he is on the boards of directors of Coca-Coca Bottling Company Consolidated and Lowe’s Home Improvement.

▪ Comporium is partnering with South Carolina Future Minds to sponsor the “This School’s Got Talent” for performing artists. It will be followed in February by “This School’s Got STEM,” a competition for science, technology, engineering and math students.
“This School’s Got Talent” competition is taking submissions through Jan. 29.
“Comporium is a technology-rich enterprise, and we see the benefits of developing STEM talent and fostering the arts in education,” said Comporium vice president of supply chain management Patrick White. “We feel that starting technology early in the classroom is crucial to the future of South Carolina. We are thrilled to be the major sponsor again this year for S.C. Future Minds’ STEM and talent competitions in our public schools.”
There is no entry fee. Both contests are open to any public school student in South Carolina in kindergarten through 12th grade. To enter, adults 18 or older may submit videos of students showcasing their skills on the South Carolina Future Minds Facebook page. Videos must be at least three minutes in length and may not exceed five minutes in length. Complete rules will be posted on the South Carolina Future Minds Facebook page.
Those interested in entering the “This School’s Got STEM” contest need to prepare videos of their projects to be entered starting Feb. 22 until March 4.

▪ Family Trust Federal Credit Union has named three new branch managers.
Josh Nyegaard of Rock Hill has been promoted to manager of the branch in York on Old York Road. Nyegaard previously was assistant manager at branches on Dave Lyle Boulevard and Ebenezer Road. He has 16 years of experience in the financial industry.
Beth Bergstrom of Rock Hill will serve as assistant manager for the branch on Dave Lyle Boulevard. She joined Family Trust in 2014 as a lending consultant and has 15 years credit union experience.
Sarah Hobbs of Clover has been promoted to assistant manager of the branch on Ebenezer Road. She attended the University of South Carolina-Upstate and graduated in 2015 from York Technical College with an associate’s degree in general business management.
