Giti Tire earns top awards from Walmart

Giti Tire (USA) Ltd. has been named Automotive Supplier of the Year and Hardline Supplier of the Year by Walmart USA.

The company supplies the Dextero DHT2, a light truck tire designed for highway use, to Walmart USA.

The awards were announced at Walmart USA’s recent 2016 kickoff meeting in Indianapolis.

Giti Tire officials said they were honored to be named the Hardline Supplier of the Year, a category that has more than 1,000 suppliers, and being selected as one of four finalists in the general merchandise category.

“We want to thank Walmart for its business and this very special recognition. These awards are a testament to the commitment, dedication, innovation and hard work of all our team members at Giti Tire USA,” said Lou Monico, Walmart account manager for Giti Tire (USA) Ltd. “This recognition also speaks to Giti Tire’s commitment to American consumers and companies.”

Giti is building its first America tire plant in Richburg. The company hopes to start producing tires as soon as December of this year from the plant.

Giti Tire Group, headquartered in Singapore, has been in the tire business since 1951. Giti Tire operates seven manufacturing plants and produces a broad range of tire products, serving major original equipment vehicle manufacturers, auto-service outlets, tire dealers and consumers in more than 130 countries worldwide.

Giti Tire’s U.S. operations are basked in based in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. It markets and sells a family of brands: GT Radial, Primewell, and Dextero tires for high performance vehicles, passenger, SUV, light truck, and medium trucks through national retailers, independent retailers and distributors across the United States and Canada.
