The college basketball hoops insanity is about to begin and Hickory Tavern says it has the perfect remedy – complete with a doctor’s note.

In anticipation of the college basketball tournaments, Hickory Tavern will spend this week and next handing out the “doctor” notes that can be redeemed March 17 and March 18, the opening days of the NCAA men’s tournament. Hickory Tavern will exchange the notes for free chips & cheese all day at its restaurants during the games.

“Hickory Tavern is nestled right in the middle of basketball country so we’re the best place to play hooky and watch March Insanity,” said Thom Perez of Hickory Tavern in a prepared statement. “So for anyone already feeling the basketball fever coming on, or anticipating a Hooping Cough, we’ve got the perfect excuse, uh, I mean a doctor’s note, waiting on you.”

There is a limit of one appetizer per table per visit and other restrictions may apply.

Rock Hill’s Hickory Tavern recently opened on Celanese Road. There is also a location in Indian Land on U.S. 521.
