Atlas Copco expanding Rock Hill operations

Atlas Copco is moving its Medical Gas Solutions Division, along with production and assembly for its U.S. Construction Technique, into a new $20 million facility in the Riverwalk Business Park.

Atlas Copco currently has facilities in the Waterford Business Park.

To handle the company’s expanded operations, Atlas Copco is building a 180,000-square-foot LEED-certified manufacturing and office facility on 34 acres off North Cherry Road.

The certification by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program recognizes that the structure will meet certain “green” ratings in its design, construction, operation and maintenance.

Construction is scheduled for completion early next year, and hiring for new positions is expected to begin later this year.

The state Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to the project. The York County Council approved a fee agreement which reduces the company’s property taxes.
