Rock Hill’s Jing Jing now a full-service restaurant

The Jing Jing Chinese restaurant in the Cross Pointe Shopping Center off Dave Lyle Boulevard in Rock Hill has gone from a carryout to a full-service operation.

When the adjoining Stone Pizza closed, Jing Jing operator Steven Gao decided it was time to expand – the restaurantas well as his menu.

The space was renovated and tables and a small bar were installed as well as a big-screen television.

The menu expansion includes a sushi bar and a hibachi grill, in addition to longtime favorites such as chicken and broccoli and sesame chicken.

Gao and his family have operated Jing Jing since 2001 and have established a loyal clientele, including Adam Hechler, who has been a patron for five years.

On Tuesday, Hechler was sampling the new spicy shalom sushi. He said the sushi was spicy but not too hot. He said he also like the relaxed atmosphere.

Gao, 30, said he decided to expand because of the growth in the area in terms of people and restaurant choices.

“This is a big step,” he said. “We hope to see more people coming.”

To celebrate the expansion, Gao said, Jing Jing is offering a free sushi roll this week and next week.
