Seeking local holiday shopping tips

It maybe too early to dust off Clement Clarke Moore’s classic poem, “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” or as it’s more popularly known, “The Night Before Christmas” for an evening read.

But for retailers, the stocking have been hung with care for a long time, the toys have long been made, and visions of a successful holiday season dance in their heads.

Retailers such as Kmart and Wal-Mart already have their holiday glow and both stores plan to be open on Thanksgiving Day. Rock Hill’s Galleria Mall will even be open on Thanksgiving, starting at 6 p.m.

The best buys aren’t always at the large retailers, however. There are merchants of all sizes and ownership scattered over the counties of Chester, Lancaster and York with great deals, as well as items made and only sold locally.

We’re looking for these local places.

Store owners and shoppers please email your suggestions to dworthington@heraldonline.com. Please include a brief description of the store and what makes its goods or services special, as well as the usual contact information.

We are also compiling a list of special store hours for the holiday to complement our list of large retailers. Let us know if you have any special hours planned around Black Friday or at other times during the holidays.
