Lancaster County is on to phase two of COVID-19 reopening. Here’s what comes next.

Lancaster County has plans for the next round of reopening from COVID-19.

The county announced Tuesday that it will begin the second phase of reopening on May 26. The county began its first phase with library and animal shelter openings May 11. Adoptions at the animal shelter are only by appointment.

Phase two will open county offices, the libraries and the animal shelter on full schedule, some county board meetings and some recreation amenities.

Public playground and park restroom openings are included, with state park guidance. Local athletic fields will open based on availability and social distancing measures.

Social distancing measures will remain in place at county offices. There will be temperature checks before you enter buildings. Some departments may set up their own additional measures.

County advisory boards and commissions will resume normal meeting schedules in June. Those dates vary by board or commission.

Social distancing will remain in place in the the libraries. The Del Webb Library will remain closed for renovations.

Wylie Street Pool will open May 29. Social distancing, capacity limits and related measures will be in place. The county recreation department plans to host many of its more popular summer events like youth camps.

The Lancaster School Board special election previously scheduled for May 5 will now take place July 14. The June 9 primary will go as scheduled. Absentee voting options are available.

Widespread closures in Lancaster County, along with York and other counties statewide, began in mid-March due to the COVID-19 coronavirus. Reopening from coronavirus comes per state guidelines related to a decline in active COVID-19 cases.
