Projects including 'Pennies for Progress'
The following highway projects have been constructed or are under construction as a result of the "Pennies for Progress" program:
• Interstate 77 (from Porter Road to the North Carolina line), widening from four to eight lanes. Paid for by the State Infrastructure Bank with a match from Pennies for Progress.
• I-77 Exit 82 (including S.C. 161 and Cherry Road), upgrade interchange design to accommodate traffic load. Paid for by the State Infrastructure Bank with a match from Pennies.
• S.C. 5 in Cherokee County (from York County line to I-85), widening from two to five lanes. Paid for by the State Infrastructure Bank with a match from Pennies.
• * S.C. 5 west (from S.C. 5 Bypass to Cherokee County line), widening from a two-lane road to four and five lanes.
• * S.C. 5 East (from Cherry to Montgomery roads), widening from two to five lanes.
• * India Hook Road (from Herlong to Hillcroft), widening from a two to three lanes.
• * India Hook/Herlong Avenue (from Celanese to S.C. 5), widening from two lanes to three and five lanes.
• * S.C.160 (from I-77 to Gold Hill Road), widening from two to five lanes.
• * Fort Mill Northern Bypass (from S.C. 160 to Gold Hill Road), new two-lane road.
• *S.C. 161 (from Mount Gallant Road to S.C. 5 Bypass), widening from two to five lanes.
• * S.C. 274 (from S.C. 161 to S.C. 49), widening from two to five lanes.
• * More than 250 gravel roads have been paved.
• * Shiloh Road/S.C. 5 intersection
• * S.C. 49/Paraham Road intersection
