Repairs will begin next week on Ebinport Road in Rock Hill after years of resident complaints about the uneven surface, which is covered in potholes and cracks.

South Carolina Department of Transportation crews will start work on Tuesday. The repairs are expected to be completed by the end of April, pending weather issues or other unforeseen circumstances.

“Crews will remove and replace the existing asphalt pavement with concrete and asphalt surfacing,” according to an SCDOT press release.

All pavement to a depth of 10 inches below the gutter line will be removed and replaced with eight inches of concrete and two inches of asphalt.

The roadwork will be performed in two sections.

  • The portion of Ebinport Road from Cherry Road to Homeward Lane will begin March 17. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in this section throughout the work.
  • The portion of Ebinport Road from Homeward Lane to India Hook Road is scheduled to begin on March 30 while nearby schools are on spring break. This section will require a lane closure with a two-way flagging operation. Delays to traffic should be expected.

SCDOT is encouraging drivers to use caution and consider using an alternate route.

The 1.5 mile stretch of road will cost $1.5 million to repair.
