Two people lose home, pet in overnight Rock Hill fire

Two people lost their home overnight in a fire, said Mark Simmons, deputy chief of operations for the Rock Hill Fire Department.

The fire happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday at 1227 Parkmont Lane in Rock Hill, Simmons said.

The home was heavily damaged and a cat died in the fire, he said.

No people were injured. The American Red Cross is assisting the family, Simmons said.

The cause is still under investigation.
