Rain closes Stallcup Road south of Rock Hill; Dave Lyle, Saluda other trouble spots

Rain that was heavy at times Tuesday forced the closure of one York County road south of Rock Hill, while other major routes were passable but had patches of water, officials said.

Stallcup Road, which runs between Skyline Road and Rambo Road, is closed because of flooding, said Chuck Haynes, York County Emergency Management Director.

It is unclear when the road will re-open.

Major routes, specifically parts of Dave Lyle Boulevard and Saluda Road close to the Chester County line, also have some water problems, Haynes said. The roadway troubles came as the storm water system attempts to keep up with the rainfall, Haynes said.

Almost an inch of rain had fallen Tuesday by 3 p.m. at the Rock Hill/York County Airport official National Weather Service station, records show. More than 2.6 inches of rain fell Sunday and Monday at the airport, the weather service reported.

Storms remain in the forecast Wednesday for the Rock Hill area, according to AccuWeather. Clearing skies are expected Thursday, before warm and pleasant weather returns for the weekend.
