Rock Hill house fire damages home, police say

A fire broke out Sunday at a Rock Hill home, according to a police report.

Around 4:27 a.m., a Rock Hill police officer drove by a home off Arch Drive where a fire was rising up the side of the house, the report states. The grass around the area also was on fire.

The officer alerted the residents to the fire and helped put it out, the report says. The fire appears to have started outside from a basket of faux plants, the report states.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The officer had already responded to the home twice before the fire because the occupant of the house reported that someone had assaulted and threatened to kill her, the report states.

The fire is being investigated, said Mark Bollinger, public information officer for the Rock Hill Police Department.
