Names released of 2 killed in separate York County crashes
The York County Coroner’s Office has identified two people who died in nearly simultaneous wrecks on Wednesday.
In the first crash, Timothy Rodgers, 26, of Rock Hill, died after his motorcycle crashed on Reservation Road about 1:37 p.m. The rider was heading north on a Suzuki when he ran off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened about 3 miles south of Rock Hill, according to the highway patrol.
Rodgers, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Lance Cpl. Gary Miller. The fatal wreck occurred five days after Rodgers’s birthday
The other crash happened about 3:30 p.m. on S.C. 5/Black Highway about 5 miles from York.
In that accident, Laura B. Sanders, 31, of Clover was driving east when she went off the right side of the road and hit an embankment, according to the patrol. Her passenger, Alexander Bissett McConnell, 48, died at the scene, Miller said.
Neither Sanders nor McConnell, also of Clover, were wearing seat belts. Both were ejected from the Kia Sedona minivan, Miller said.
Sanders was taken to Carolinas Medical Center. Her condition was not available Wednesday.
There were no other cars involved in that accident.
Both people were killed in separate accidents about 30 minutes apart Wednesday afternoon, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
