Football season is here, enjoy the season with us
You love high school football. We do too.
That’s why The Herald is going all out to provide the best and most comprehensive coverage in York, Chester and Lancaster counties.
That means news nuggets, video interviews with coaches, statistics and features on interesting and deserving players during the week, and as many words and photos as we can muster amid the furious scramble that is Friday night football.
It also means social media extras on Twitter -- @RHHerald_Preps -- and on Instagram and Facebook. We’ll offer real-time insights, images and information from practices and games. And maybe we’ll provide a laugh or smart Alec comment -- or two.
We’ll give out Hawgs of the Week awards every week, to recognize offensive linemen who, despite the importance of their contributions, usually toil in the shadows. Why? Because putting the spotlight on deserving kids is the whole point. For some of these players, the Friday Night Lights may be the apex of their high school days. We’ll treat it that way, a legacy of The Herald’s past high school sports writing titan, the late, great Barry Byers.
Above all, we’ll squeeze as many kids’ names online and in print as possible. Those newspaper clippings and copied-from-online articles get slapped on the refrigerator. We know that. We’ll be fair, accurate and spell names correctly.
Football isn’t the only positive thing happening in Rock Hill. But it certainly is a big deal. For yet another season we will treat it that way -- starting this Friday night at heraldonline.com.
