Winthrop class of 2021 kicks off academic year at ‘Rock the Hill’

Winthrop University’s freshman student event, Rock the Hill, kicked off the year with a bang – and a dance party set to “Wobble” and the “Cha Cha Slide.”

Winthrop men’s basketball head coach Pat Kelsey introduced the Eagles athletics teams and – after the winning the Big South Conference tournament last year and playing in the NCAA tournament – made the new students a promise.

“We’re going back,” he said.

That is – if students come out to the games, getting as loud as they were the past year, the men’s basketball team would be back in the NCAA tournament.

And the freshmen seemed ready to hold him to that promise.

“I believe that we will win, I believe that we will win,” they chanted back.

And with that, Winthrop’s class of 2021 showed it was ready to rock the hill.
