Sewer, not eclipse, closes part of Rock Hill’s Black Street; detours needed
Blame the sewers, not the eclipse, for traffic tie-ups in downtown Rock Hill the next few days.
And find another way to get around the downtown stopped trains.
Black Street between Dave Lyle Boulevard and Wilson Street is closed through Friday for installation of sewer lines, city officials announced Monday.
Black Street on the other side of Dave Lyle was closed temporarily Monday for eclipse viewing.
Detours include using Main Street to the north and Johnston Street to the south, city officials said.
The closing of Black Street also takes out of use for a few days one method of avoiding trains that block Main Street and White Street intersections with Dave Lyle Boulevard.
Drivers who want to get around downtown trains will have to use Johnston Street to get east and west during periods when Norfolk Southern trains are stopped downtown.
