Chester man, 63, killed while riding bicycle on road, police say
A 63-year-old man was killed Sunday while riding a bicycle on York Road near Chester, said Trooper Joe Hovis of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Terry Tinker, Chester County coroner, identified the rider who died as William McCree of Chester.
At 4:15 p.m. Sunday, a driver of a 1998 pickup truck struck the rider on York Road, about half a mile North of Chester, Hovis said.
The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene, Hovis said. The truck driver and three passengers, a 12-year-old and two 17-year-olds, were not injured.
The collision is under investigation, Hovis said.
