Descendants of slaves in York County demonstrate what life was like at plantation
It was a pleasant day in York County, even if the stories visitors learned at Historic Brattonsville were unpleasant.
The Culture and Heritage Museums of York County held the “By the Sweat of Our Brows” Saturday at the Revolutionary-era plantation. The event featured the stories of the slaves who lived at Historic Brattonsville.
Guests walked through slave cabins and historic buildings at the site as interpreters and descendants of Brattonsville slaves told stories and demonstrated what life was like.
