Red Cross helping 3 displaced, including infant, after York County house fire Monday

KRT

A house fire that started in a garage and damaged the home displaced three people, including an infant, Monday morning west of Rock Hill, fire officials said.

No one was injured in the fire in the 5300 block of Woodside Drive north of Mount Gallant Road, said Carl Faulk, Newport Fire Department chief. Crews were on scene for more than four hours after the fire was reported around 1:15 a.m. Monday, Faulk said.

Newport has some paid firefighters during the week during daytime hours, so the fire was fought by Newport volunteers, Faulk said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the York County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The American Red Cross is helping the family that was displaced.
