No reason given for glitch that stalled Carowinds roller coaster
The Carowinds amusement park isn't saying why a roller coaster designed for children got stuck, stranding almost two dozen people more than 20 feet in the air, according to WSOC-TV, The Herald’s news partner.
Fire crews evacuated a Carowinds ride after it got stuck mid-air with riders still on it.
Park officials said the Flying Ace Aerial Chase got stuck around 10 p.m. Saturday.
Carowinds spokeswoman Laresa Thompson says the ride's safety features shut it down if computers detect a glitch, according to WSOC.
Charlotte firefighters said about 20 children and adults were stuck about 20 feet in the air before park staff was able to get them down.
The Flying Ace Aerial Chase is the tallest ride in a section of the amusement park devoted to rides for smaller children.
