Inez T. Wright has reached a milestone.

Wright turns 100 on Sept. 27. She celebrated Sept. 24 with friends and family at the White Oak Manor Nursing Home in York.

Wright was married to the late Isaac C. Wright, a bricklayer in the community, and they have one son. The Wrights have two grandsons and a great-grandson, according to a biography provided by White Oak Manor.

Wright is the oldest member of St. James United Methodist Church in York, where she dedicated years of her time assisting with activities.

Wright is known for “her delicious pound cakes and her mouthwatering lemon bars,” according to the biography.

A seamstress, Wright also worked with her sister Doretha Murray to design and create sewing patterns.

Wright also is a sports fan and roots for the Atlanta Braves and Clover Blue Eagles. Her grandson played football in Clover and she often could be heard cheering, “Run baby run, don’t let those boys catch you,” from the stands.

Wright says her secret to longevity is faith.

“Honey, just have faith and trust in the Lord,” she said. “He will provide.”
