Bicyclist, 44, killed in Lancaster collision with truck

A bicyclist was killed this morning after colliding with a truck in Lancaster, said Mike Morris, Lancaster County Coroner.

Eric Lamont Jackson, 44, of Lancaster, died at Springs Memorial Hospital from injuries in the incident, Morris said.

Lancaster Police Department officers, with assistance from Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office deputies, worked the incident at the intersection of the S.C. 9 Bypass and Gills Brook Road near University of South Carolina-Lancaster, officials said.

The driver of the truck did not leave the scene and waited for police to arrive, said Capt Scott Grant of the Lancaster Police Department. As of Thursday afternoon, the investigation was continuing and no charges had been filed.
