Wreaths Across America event set for this weekend in Rock Hill

Wreaths Across America, which leads national ceremonies that honor military veterans in all 50 states and is celebrating its 25th anniversary, will hold a ceremony Saturday in Rock Hill.

The public event will feature U.S. Rep Ralph Norman, R-Rock Hill as guest speaker. It starts at 10 a.m. at Grand View Memorial Park, 620 S. Cherry Road.

Rolling Thunder, a veterans advocacy group, will lead the event at the veterans section of the cemetery.

The event will be attended by veterans groups and others from York County, including several Scout groups, JROTC from Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill, an honor guard from VFW Post 2889, and dozens of volunteers who will place wreaths on the graves of veterans.

More than 1,200 locations across the country are participating in Wreaths Across America this month. The event started in 1992 at Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington, D.C., and now has sites in every state.
