A portion of S.C. 97 between Hickory Grove and Smyrna will be closed for at least three months for road work.

A stretch of S.C. 97, between Ebenezer Road and McKnight Road, will close beginning Monday, Dec. 18 and potentially reopen in March 2018.

That opening date could change if workers run into utility conflicts or adverse weather conditions, according to the S.C. Department of Transportation.

For a detour, drivers travelling north on S.C. 97 are asked to turn left onto Potato House Road heading towards Legion Road, then continue onto Legion Road and travel to the intersection of Main Street and S.C. 97. The net detour length is 1.51 miles.

The work is contracted out to Eagle Construction Co., the DOT said.
