Funeral procession now bringing slain officer to Rock Hill

The Charlotte funeral for a slain York County officer has ended and a procession now is bringing the officer to Rock Hill.

Police in both Carolinas are expected to temporarily close some roads and divert traffic for the procession and burial of York County law enforcement officer Mike Doty.

Doty, 37, died Wednesday after he and three other officers were shot in a domestic violence incident. The other officers were wounded Andy have survived.

The funeral, which was Monday at Calvary Church on N.C. 51 in Charlotte, ended around 2 p.m.

Here is the expected times and affected routes. Police are expected to close some routes for periods for the procession of hundreds of vehicles to pass, according to Charlotte and York County police.

Drivers in York County should expect detours and slower traffic from the early afternoon until after Doty is laid to rest, police said.

The procession will head south on Rea Road to I-485 then to Interstate 77 south.

Procession exits I-77 at S.C. 161, Celanese Road, and heads west to Forest Hills Cemetery.

Celanese Road and connecting routes will have diverted traffic and detours during the time of the processional through the end of the funeral.
