Man fired a flare gun at his face in accident at York Tech
A man accidentally fired a flare gun at his face inside a car at York Technical College, according to a Rock Hill police report.
Two men were sitting in the car just after 11 a.m. Thursday when the flare gun went off, York Technical College Public Safety officials told police, the report says.
The injured man was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, the report says.
Capt. Mark Bollinger, spokesman for the Rock Hill Police Department, said the man’s injuries are not life-threatening.
The other man told police the two came to York Technical College to pick up some tools, and the injured man was looking at the flare gun, the report says.
The other man said the flare gun was cocked, but neither man thought the gun was loaded, the report says.
The man told police the injured man had the flare gun pointed at his face when the gun “suddenly went off,” the report says.
The man told police no one touched the trigger of the flare gun, the report says.
