Dutchman Creek Middle School has a new principal.

The Rock Hill school district announced Friday that Clayton Moton, who has spent his career in Rock Hill schools, will become the second principal in the history of Dutchman Creek.

Clayton’s hiring was approved Friday during a special called executive session of the Rock Hill school board, district spokesman Mychal Frost said in a statement.

Moton is replacing Norris Williams, who left Rock Hill to return to Sumter to take the assistant superintendent of leadership and school excellence position, Frost said.

Moton has previously worked as a teacher at Belleview Elementary School and Saluda Trail Middle School.

Moton was named teacher of the year at Belleview during his second year.

“From there, he has excelled and made significant contributions to his school community,” Frost said.

Moton became an assistant principal at Saluda Trail Middle in 2008.

The assistant principal position at Saluda Trail Middle School is open for applications at www.rock-hill.k12.sc.us/jobs.
