Dine at Rock Hill restaurant, help slain York County officer’s family
A Rock Hill restaurant is showing support for the family of fallen York County Sheriff’s Office Det. Mike Doty, who was shot while on duty Jan. 16 and later died.
Nishie G’s, with locations on Mount Gallant Road and Dilworth Lane, will donate proceeds from all grilled chicken pita meals sold Friday to the Doty family, employees say.
The staff also will be wearing blue in his honor.
Nishie G’s owner George Gallis said Doty and the injured officers would often come by the restaurant.
“They’ve been supporting Nishie G’s for years,” he said.
Gallis said he and Nishie G’s have supported many community causes through the years, but Doty’s death hit particularly close to home.
“It kind of hits you hard, and you feel like you’re a piece of that,” he said. “We wanted to help the family any way we could.”
York County officials say a sign dedicating a section of Carowinds Boulevard as the Det. Mike Doty Memorial Highway will be unveiled Friday as well.
