Cold dip for a special cause in York County
The Tega Cay Police Department held its annual Polar Plunge on Saturday at the city’s Beach Club to benefit Special Olympics. Temperatures at noon were in the 30s.
“Lots of people are turning themselves into human popsicles to raise money for Special Olympics,” the city Facebook posted Saturday morning.
The plunge was originally to be into Lake Wylie, but a sewage spill earlier in the week necessitated a no-swim advisory, so officials moved the site. Last year’s Polar Plunge raised more than $24,000.
