Deputies help Fort Mill man who wanted to kill himself with sword

Two sheriff’s office deputies helped a Fort Mill man this week who said he was going to kill himself with a sword.

Deputies were called to the railroad tracks near Lesslie Highway in Rock Hill on Wednesday night after someone reported that a suicidal person was walking with a large sword, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office incident report. Authorities say the man was willing to go to the hospital for help.

The man gave deputies his sword at the scene and later said it was his intention to kill himself with the weapon, the report states. The incident happened around 6 p.m. Deputies say no one was injured.
