Local voters will have the chance to size up two more Republican presidential candidates this week.

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky will speak in Rock Hill on Friday as he lays the groundwork for a run in South Carolina’s 2016 presidential primary. The next day, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania will hold a town hall event in Fort Mill.

Paul will make an appearance at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Palmetto Room, 150 E. White St. The $25 event includes a catered lunch and a chance to ask questions of the candidate.

Afterwards, Paul will greet guests and sign copies of his book, “Taking a Stand: Moving Beyond Partisan Politics to Unite America,” in which he lays out his vision and agenda for the country. Paul is currently on a multi-state tour promoting the book.

The libertarian-leaning first-term senator announced his bid for the White House in April. His father, former Texas Congressman Ron Paul, twice sought the GOP nomination in 2008 and 2012, after running as the Libertarian Party candidate in 1988.

Tickets for the event can be bought at yorkrepublicans.com/lunch/randpaul.

Santorum, who finished second to Mitt Romney in the race for the 2012 Republican nomination, has two events scheduled for Saturday in the Fort Mill area.

At 3 p.m., Santorum will hold a meet-and-greet with local officials at Rinehart Realty, 2879 S.C. 160 West, Suite 104, Fort Mill. At 5:30 p.m., he will attend a public town hall event at the Sun City Carolina Lakes Community Center, 5074 Grandview Drive, Indian Land.

Known as an outspoken social conservative, Santorum was the U.S. senator from Pennsylvania from 1995 to 2007.
