One person is dead after an early morning wreck in Lancaster County on Sunday.

The fatality occurred as a result of a traffic collision on U.S. 521 around 6:30 a.m., according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. The wreck occurred approximately 5 miles south of the city of Lancaster, near the town of Heath Springs.

The deceased was identified Sunday afternoon as Bryan Mitchell Taylor, 29, of Heath Springs.

He was driving a 1994 Ford truck south on U.S. 521/Camden Highway when the truck crossed the center line and collided with a 2006 box truck. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The 33-year-old driver of the other vehicle was transported from the scene by EMS with unspecified injuries, the report said.

The cause of the wreck was not immediately clear. Lancaster County Coroner Mike Morris said an autopsy would be performed Monday to determine if any medical factors contributed to the collision. The incident remains under investigation by Highway Patrol as well.
