A North Carolina man was killed early Monday after his pickup struck a tree in Lancaster County, according to the Highway Patrol.
Patrick Stripling, 31, of Indian Trail, N.C., was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy and toxicology will be performed Tuesday morning.
The crash happened about 3 a.m. on U.S. 521 near Lodge Road, about 15 miles north of Lancaster, said Lance Cpl. Gary Miller, spokesman for the Highway Patrol. A 2013 Dodge Ram was traveling north on U.S. 521 when the vehicle veered off the left side of the road and struck an embankment and a tree.
Stripling, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, Miller said. No other passengers were in the truck, and no other vehicles were involved

This is the third deadly crash in Lancaster County in less than a week. A Heath Springs man died Sunday after crashing his pickup into a box truck on U.S. 521 early Sunday, and the driver of a paving truck died Friday after his truck ran off the road on Overbrook Road, traveled down an embankment and overturned.
