‘Malnourished, unclean’: Dogs, cats, seized from Rock Hill home, police say
Dogs and cats were seized from a Rock Hill home Tuesday when authorities found animals that appeared to be malnourished and unclean, officials said.
Police were called after a woman reported not receiving dog training and grooming services she claims to have paid for, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department.
The woman reported to police unclean conditions at the grooming site on Pinebranch Road where her dog had been boarded, according to a police incident report.
Officers conducting an investigation found several animals in the home and yard on Pinebranch Road, Chavis said. Officers also saw some of the animals in unclean conditions, and some may have been malnourished, Chavis said.
York County Animal Control officers were notified and responded, according to a police incident report. Officials then got a search warrant for the home, Chavis said.
One dog was found dead on the property, Chavis said.
“Dogs, cats and another type of animal were found,” Chavis said.
The specific species of animals aside from dogs and cats was not released.
No charges have been filed in the case, and the investigation remains ongoing, Chavis said.
Trish Startup, spokesperson for York County, confirmed there is an ongoing investigation concerning the animals. Startup said county animal control officials could not comment on a pending investigation.
