One killed, another injured in head-on collision in York County, officials say

One person was killed and another person was injured following a head-on collision Saturday in York County, officials said.

The crash happened just before 2 p.m. on Marshall Road near Rock Hill, said Trooper Joe Hovis of S.C. Highway Patrol.

A 2012 Nissan was traveling north on Marshall Road, Hovis said. A 2010 Ford pickup truck was traveling south, crossed the center lane and hit the Nissan head-on, Hovis said.

The driver of the Nissan, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, Hovis said.

The driver of the Ford truck, who was wearing a seat belt, was injured and transported by EMS to Piedmont Medical Center, Hovis said. The injured driver’s condition was unavailable Sunday morning.

The crash remains under investigation and a decision on charges is pending.
