Man walking on railroad tracks hurt when he was hit by train in Rock Hill, police say

A pedestrian walking on railroad tracks in Rock Hill was hurt when he was hit by a train, police said.

The male victim, 34, suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck by the train on Saturday, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department. The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical center hospital in Charlotte, Chavis said.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

The collision happened on tracks near Curtis Street, according to police.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation by the police department’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team.
