Excitement builds for a new Main Street restaurant in Fort Mill. Here’s what we know.

A Waxhaw, N.C., restaurant has Fort Mill buzzing with anticipation of a new eatery on Main Street.

Emmet’s Social Table posted a photo on Facebook Monday night of the Center Theatre property. On it was written, “another yummy surprise is loading” with #comingsummer2020 also in the post.

The Center Theatre property formerly housed the Southern Sugar bakery and wine bar.

Reaction to the Emmet’s Social Table post was swift. Most of the almost 90 comments as of Tuesday morning expressed excitement for a new dining option.

“This is killer news!” posted Karol Merritt Hollis. “Thank y’all! We can’t wait!

“Great news!” posted Treva Thomas Hammond. “I’m a huge Emmett’s fan!”

“This makes me so happy to see!” posted Jenn Lindsey. “Welcome to Fort Mill!”

Emmet’s, according to its website, began in 2018 and offers American style tapas along with craft cocktails, wine and desserts. The restaurant also has larger plates like salmon or chicken and waffles. The Waxhaw site has a patio with a fire pit and a large social table that seats one large or multiple parties.

A new restaurant option downtown would add to the growing food and drink scene that now includes Hobo’s, The Improper Pig, Local Dish, Towne Tavern Express and Amor Artis Brewing just on Main Street.

Immediate attempts to contact Emmet’s were unsuccessful. Check back for more.
