A downtown Rock Hill restaurant closes Monday afternoon, but not for long. Here’s why
A popular Rock Hill eatery is closing for renovation, but it won’t be down long.
Amelie’s French Bakery tweeted that its Rock Hill location will close at 2 p.m. Monday and won’t back until Wednesday morning. The bakery on East Main Street is undergoing renovations. On Wednesday morning the decision was made to hold off another day on re-opening.
The bakery will open at 7 a.m. Thursday.
Joannah Long, company spokesperson, said the slight delay will allow more time for the renovation to finish.
“This decision was not made lightly but was made to ensure the best possible experience for our patrons and our employees,” Long said. “We are excited to show off our refreshed space on Thursday morning when we re-open.”
Several signs at the downtown bakery notified customers on Monday afternoon, just ahead of closing. Staff at the eatery said renovations wouldn’t change the character of Amelie’s. They involve improvements in the service area. There could be future renovation, staff said, on anything from the patio area to work space or additional seating for customers.
The Rock Hill site once was The Citizens Bank. The two-story building still has a large vault and other architectural reminders of its past. Inside, decor resembles other Amelie’s locations with a French cafe feel.
According to its website, Amelie’s has multiple locations in Charlotte along with sites in Rock Hill and Atlanta. Amelie’s serves soups, salads and sandwiches along with pastries, cakes and other sweets.
