Black Street in downtown Rock Hill is blocked near the police department. Here’s why

Black Street in downtown Rock Hill was blocked Friday morning after a crash near the Rock Hill Police Department, officials said.

A single vehicle was involved, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department. The SUV was on its side after the crash in the west bound lane of Black Street. A tree in the median was struck, Chavis said.

No one was hurt in the SUV, Chavis said. A dog in the vehicle with the two occupants was not injured.

Rock Hill police Lt. Tony Breeden, the on-scene commander, ordered Black Street blocked in both directions from Hampton Street to Dave Lyle Boulevard until crews could clear the vehicle, tree and debris. It is unclear how the long the street will remain closed.

The wreck remains under investigation.
