Pedestrian crossing Carowinds Boulevard in York County killed in collision with truck

A pedestrian was killed late Wednesday in a collision with a truck near Carowinds in York County, officials said.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on Carowinds Boulevard near Interstate 77 Exit 90, said Master Trooper David Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The person was crossing the road when struck by a 2003 truck, Jones said.

The pedestrian died at the scene, according to Jones and emergency officials. The identity of the person who was killed has not yet been released by the York County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the truck was not injured, Jones said.

No charges have been filed and the investigation is being conducted by the S.C. Department of Public Safety and the coroner’s office.
