Assisted living sites, one tied to Mick Mulvaney, among latest Lancaster County plans

Two assisted living facility sites, one connected to former U.S. House member and White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, are up for review in Lancaster County.

The county planning commission meets July 21. Two of those agenda items involve Whitehall Development Group projects. One of them is an Indian Land site owned by Indian Land Ventures LLC, a Mulvaney company.

County records show the almost 15-acre site at U.S. 521 and Collins Road — the site touches both, but doesn’t include the intersection — sold to Lancaster Collins Road LLC in 2007 for $4.5 million. Indian Land Ventures acquired the property June 24 of this year.

The rezoning application for the undeveloped property shows plans for an assisted living facility. It will have detached independent care cottages and medical office space, per the application. Beaufort-based Whitehall Development Group is the company applying for rezoning on behalf of the owner.

Whitehall is the same company behind an assisted living center planned near medical park space at U.S. 521 near Healthcare Drive, in Lancaster. The two sites are about a 20 minute drive apart. The Lancaster property is almost seven acres. Taylors Grove Baptist Church owns it.

The Lancaster site has an almost 2,400-square-foot brick house on it, county land records show, built in 1975.

Assisted living sites aren’t the only decisions facing county planners.

Owners of 11727 Harrisburg Road in Indian Land applied to rezone almost 15 acres there for a new residential subdivision. Plans involve five lots, with one home and an autonomous basement built on each. The zoning change is need to allow the homes to be vertical duplexes. The site is near the norther tip of Lancaster County, just south of Regent Parkway.

An application is in to allow a non-franchise car dealership at 1962 John Everall Road. A vacant convenience store building is there now, with overgrown parking areas. The site is a little more than an acre. Submitted plans show the used car lot would use the existing building.

Another non-franchise car dealership is proposed at 2160 Flat Creek Road. That site had a dealership as recently as November. 903 Motors LLC is the applicant. Plans show a used car dealership at the existing building.
