Fort Mill school district names new middle school principal as start date nears
Pleasant Knoll Middle School has its new principal.
Amid changes to the school calendar and back-to-school planning during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fort Mill school board on Tuesday night tabbed Cori Hustedt to lead Pleasant Knoll Middle. Hustedt has been assistant principal at the school for three years.
“Her familiarity with the school, its students and its parents will allow for a smooth transition in leadership and provide consistency during an otherwise challenging time,” superintendent Chuck Epps said in a statement.
Hustedt earned a secondary education degree from Charleston Southern University and a master’s in educational leadership from Queens University, according to the district. She has nine years working in education including time at York Preparatory Academy and Banks Trail Middle School.
She also completed the state department’s Foundation of School Leadership Program and serves on the district’s science curriculum and SLO development teams.
Hustedt replaces Grey Young, who moves to the district office as executive director of student services.
Other district changes were announced earlier this month.
Richard Eppes was named principal at Gold Hill Middle School, replacing Christine McNeil. McNeil has been named director of Fort Mill Virtual Academy.
Among several updates from the school board on Tuesday was a change in the school start date for students to Aug. 31. Gov. Henry McMaster asked school districts to start Sept. 8.
