‘I’m spoiling my pets’: York County woman wins $300,000 in SC lottery

A woman who won $300,000 in the South Carolina lottery after buying a ticket near Interstate 77 has decided that she isn’t going to spend the loot on herself.

Her animals will get the royal treatment.

“I’m spoiling my pets,” the winner told lottery officials.

The woman matched all five numbers in the Palmetto Cash 5 game of the S.C. Education Lottery in the July 23 drawing, lottery officials said.

The woman’s identity was not released because she wished to remain anonymous. She bought the ticket at the Flying J on S.C. 901, adjacent to Exit 73 of I-77. The store received a 1% commission of $3,000 for selling the winning ticket.

The odds of winning $300,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,405,438, according to lottery officials.
