Small plane crashes between Clover and NC near Lake Wylie; FAA investigating
A small plane crashed Saturday between Clover and the North Carolina state line, officials said.
The plane was found crashed after 1 p.m. in woods near the intersection of Bate Harvey Road and Jackson Lake Lane, said Trent Faris, spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office.
The area is north of S.C. 557 between Clover and the North Carolina state line, west of Lake Wylie.
The pilot was found by emergency officials outside the plane walking near the crash site, Faris said. The pilot was taken by EMS for medical treatment but the injuries were not expected to be life-threatening, Faris said.
There were no passengers reported on the plane, Faris said.
The plane took off from a private air strip on Bate Harvey Road, Faris said. The pilot told deputies the plane clipped trees after take off and made an emergency landing, Faris said.
Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration and Charlotte-Douglas airport were notified Saturday, according to deputies. FAA investigators are expected on site this week to continue the investigation, officials said.
No other details about the crash have been released.
